For children, Christmas is a whole season of counting sleeps and believing in a little magic. These Christmas wishes for kids 2026 are written in words children can read and keep: messages from parents, notes 'from Santa', easy rhymes and short lines for classroom card exchanges.

Quick answer: Christmas Day 2026 is Friday, December 25, 2026. For the easiest win, write one wish from you, one short note "from Santa" beside the stocking, and let your child copy a rhyme from this page into their school cards. Planning gifts too? Start with our Christmas Gift Ideas 2026 guide.

Christmas Wishes for Kids from Parents

From the people who build the magic: keep these warm, proud, and personal. Adding your child's name and one thing they did brilliantly this year makes any line unforgettable.

Merry Christmas to our favourite little star. Watching you discover the world is the best gift we get all year.
You make every day feel brighter, and Christmas feel magical. We love you more than all the lights on the tree.
May your Christmas be full of giggles, warm hugs, and at least one present that needs batteries we remembered to buy.
To our wonderful kid: thank you for the drawings, the jokes, and the very serious questions at bedtime. Merry Christmas, superstar.
We hope your day sparkles from the first stocking surprise to the last cookie. Merry Christmas, sweetheart.
Being your parent is our favourite adventure. May this Christmas be your happiest chapter yet.

Christmas Wishes from Grandparents

Grandparents' wishes carry extra cuddles. These lines are gentle, proud, and perfect inside a card with a little treat tucked beside it.

Merry Christmas, my precious grandchild. Your smile is the best decoration in our whole house.
From Grandma and Grandpa: may your Christmas be as sweet as the biscuits waiting for you in our kitchen.
You are growing so fast, and every version of you is our favourite. Have a magical Christmas, darling.
We saved you the comfiest chair, the biggest hug, and the first slice of cake. Merry Christmas, little one.
Our favourite tradition is watching you open presents. Thank you for keeping Christmas young for all of us.

Christmas Wishes from Santa

A short note from Santa beside the stocking or the empty cookie plate doubles the morning excitement. Write one of these on plain paper in your best "Santa handwriting":

Ho ho ho! I saw your name on the Nice List — twice! Keep being kind, keep being curious. Merry Christmas! — Santa
Thank you for the cookies and the carrots for my reindeer. You made our night. See you next year! — Santa
Dear friend, Rudolph says hello and thanks you for the bright window lights that guided us in. Merry Christmas! — Santa
You asked for surprises, so I brought my favourites. Be good, be brave, and brush your teeth after the candy. — Santa
P.S. from the North Pole: the elves loved your letter. Drawing included. It is on our fridge now. — Santa

Short Christmas Rhymes for Young Readers

Simple rhymes help early readers practise — and they are easy for children to copy into their own cards:

Snow is falling, lights are bright, Merry Christmas, sleep tight!
Jingle bells and gingerbread, Christmas dreams inside my head.
A tree, a star, a gift or two — Merry Christmas, I love you!
Santa's coming, quick to bed, visions of toys in my head.
Red and green and gold so bright, fill my heart with Christmas light.
Cookies, cocoa, songs we sing, Christmas is my favourite thing!

Card Lines for Classroom & Card Exchanges

Short, friendly, and easy to write many times over — ideal for school friends and teachers:

Merry Christmas! Thanks for being an awesome friend this year.
Hope your holidays are full of fun, games, and zero homework surprises.
You make school better. Have a magical Christmas!
Wishing you snow days, hot cocoa, and all your favourite things.
To my teacher: thank you for a great year. Merry Christmas!
Same class, same team — Merry Christmas, friend!

Wishes for a Baby's First Christmas

For the smallest celebrants, the wish is really for the memory box — written by parents or grandparents to be read years later:

Your first Christmas, little one. You will not remember it, but we will never forget holding you beside this tree.
May your first Christmas be the start of a lifetime of magical ones. Welcome to the family's favourite season.
Tiny hands, tiny stockings, enormous love. Merry first Christmas, our little miracle.
One day you will read this card and know: you were the best gift of 2026. Merry Christmas, baby.

Tip for parents: if your child is writing many cards, let them pick one line from this page and write it in their own handwriting each time. Teachers and classmates treasure the effort far more than perfect spelling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Short friendly lines work best: "Thanks for being an awesome friend this year" or one of the rhymes above, which young writers can copy easily.

When should stockings and Santa notes be ready in 2026?

Christmas Day is Friday, December 25, 2026, so Santa notes and stockings should be in place on Christmas Eve night, Thursday, December 24.

Conclusion

Children remember feelings long after the wrapping paper is gone. A few kind words — from you, from grandparents, or from a certain jolly visitor — can become the part of Christmas they carry forever. Pick the lines that sound like your family, write them by hand, and enjoy the morning faces.
